There's nothing like a sunshine break in an idyllic holiday destination to take your mind off things.

And Nicollette Sheridan was clearly making the most of her relaxing break in the Caribbean island of St Barts, a few weeks after her court battle against ABC was declared a mistrial.

The 48-year-old former Desperate Housewives actress showed off her impressive bikini body in a black two piece as she took a relaxing dip in the warm ocean.

However, the gentle waves appear to have messed with her perfectly placed bikini, as the star was spotted making a few adjustments to her bikini top as she emerged from the ocean after her swim.

She showed off her toned arms and flat tummy as she emerged from the water, with her blonde hair wet from the sea.

Nicollette is currently on vacation with a mystery new man and later covered up with an orange patterned sheer sarong for a romantic stroll down the beach.

She has clearly been enjoying her relaxing break - earlier this week, she sported a tangerine bikini while cuddling up to her new beau.

Last month, Nicollette stormed out of court after discovering she was just a juror away from vindication in her wrongful termination suit brought against her former bosses.

Judge Elizabeth Allen White declared a mistrial following days of a solidly hung jury, meaning the case will have to be brought to trial again if Nicollette wants to pursue a verdict.

Nicollette had been seeking damages of more than $6 million against her former bosses for wrongful dismissal.

She had claimed that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry axed her character Edie Britt because of her complaint that he hit her on the head during an on-set dispute back in September 2008.

The jury in the case were hung 8-4 in favour of her version of events, meaning Nicollette was technically one juror away from winning damages of $6 million.
