So the Dublin leg of Fashion's Big Night Out was great fun! Little bit exhausted after it, so I can only imagine how bad the organisers feel right now!!!!!
I started my night by dashing across town after work to get ready. I literally made it in under 20 minutes which has to be a record! On a slightly crappier note : it ruined my hair!
Myself and A were the first to arrive. Typically we entered through the wrong entrance which meant we missed the fashion cafe and the red carpets! Still though we got a quick glimpse of the madness that was MAC cosmetics - you couldn't see the sales assistants, they were literally blurs of colors and brushes!
We decided to do a circuit first around the handbags and make-up, already I could see the issue with my shoe. I had picked up a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes that day and the left one seemed to have a mind of its own. I almost fell at least twice on my way to the bathroom. Luckily I got used to it and learned to be careful!
After that we headed to Jo Malone for an arm and hand massage which was gorgeous. The lovely sales assistant that we had was so friendly and professional. Chatting away and helping us to pick our scents. I decided to try the new bluebell fragrance - which is gorgeous. I was also delighted to be off my feet for a bit since my new shoes were starting to hurt!!! We sat and had a glass of champagne for ourselves. Then we were given a present of a little bottle of Jo Malone and a white chocolate bunny to nibble on! Score!
After Jo Malone, we got our pictures taken with Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld....okay so not the real ones! but it was worth it!!!! I had to get a few interviews and talk to some people so I headed off for a quick stroll around. We managed to get some shots of a very bright blue cocktail on the third floor from the mixologist Paul Lambert at the Waterford Crystal Bar! It did the job nicely and we headed to the Fashion Cafe to put our feet up and have a smoke. The stress of trying to fix my shoe every five minutes was starting to get to me!
The fashion cafe was just outside on Grafton street and provided the perfect place for a post shopping sit down pose! I had to sample some of the amazing hot chocolates from the hot chocolate menu - oh god it's the season for that again!!! I had the white chocolate and A had a normal chocolate. We were joined by Z, N and E.
I quickly sent E and N off to Jo Malone and Z went to the drag show upstairs. The massive problem with Fashions Night Out is how many things happen at once. You have to be really on your game and have a schedule to hand. Luckily I had three helpers! Myself and E managed to get last minute manicure appointments with nails inc and were again delighted to have the time to sit down!!!! I chose the silver polish and E went with purple. It was great to relax and be pampered. I love my job sometimes! Then there was one thing left to do....
Myself and Z queued to have a Vogue cover shot taken but there was such a long queue that after half an hour of queueing with seven girls still ahead of us - we gave up. We had to. They were airbrushing on the spot which meant serious delays. We were starting to get sore feet and dehydrated to boot, so we handed back our dressing up goodies and left. Not before I changed into my flat Kurt Geigers - Viv, I love you but your shoes were seriously hurting me. I mean really really killing me.
We did stop by to listen to some of the DJs that were stationed on each floor. DJ Chewy was downstairs with Michelle Doherty on the first floor. Unfortunatly after we headed down from the Vogue cover star thing, we discovered that we were all getting a bit tired for fashion! So as we decided to leave, the DJ blew up a speaker! A horrible noise filled the hall! The day was saved and luckily the part continued but for a while there it was panicky!
We four girls headed towards the Lost Society where we found the party in full swing. There were fashion shows and fashion related cocktails - so stopping for a brief jam jar called Diane Von Furstenberg, we moved on....
We finally came to a rest in Dandelion. Which for some reason has started to become our spot along with our usual haunts. The girls and I ordered cocktails and sat down to listen to an emo playing the bagpipes and talking shit amongst ourselves. It's rare that we are all in the same place together so it was nice to catch up.
