Gentle reader, I've always had that worry in wargames that the figures will fall and the vehicles lurch if the table gets a shunt. Well, I sorted the table with sand (fairly heavy) and I sorted the figures with weighty magnet strip...now vehicles, plastic, wargames for the use of...
I've been revamping my US M$ Sherman's from Armourfast. These were some of the first produced so the have no opening turret hatch nor .50 cal. They came with skirts, which I removed. Then I just painted them green. Now the revamp. Stars, stowage and weights
I use non-bio weights....
old and surplus screws do well...
Slot heads I find are less useful now that cross heads and do the weights job well enough
I split off the top and bottom hull...
This is easy enough with Armourfast...
They only glue along the two seams
Front....
....and rear. Both easy places to hide when reattaching hull halves
Make sure, before you start, that they will fit into the hull section comfortably
Get the grab glue of your choice. I'm very fussy and always choose....the cheapest
There's no particular way to get the glue in...
....just make sure it doesn't overflow the edges
Pack them in nose to tail pointing forwards in this case
Check that they don't show proud of the superstructure. The rear plate gives the leeway
...and gives most space for the larger screw heads...
...but be careful getting forward to the front glacis where the upper half will meet the lower. It's best to gently test fit to make sure of clearances before the glue hardens. This is more critical if you are doing a row of tanks all at once.
Then, just glue front and rear of both upper and lower halves and press together.
